If you've found yourself saying this, then this blog post is for you. The definition of Faith is "Confidence we hope for and assurance about the things we do not see" Hebrews 11:1
If you're like me you're currently saying to yourself "okay, I see the words, but I don't understand how that works". Here is an example of Faith, you fill out a job application knowing there's no way you'll ever get hired. That's an act of of faith, and immediately after clicking "submit", there's a percentage of you that begins to imagine what would happen if you actually got the job, that small percentage of you now hopes for it. That is faith.
But what faith are we talking about? Because anyone can have faith for something. But the faith that has assurance for the impossible only comes from the one person, Jesus. I can believe in faith and say out loud that I will get an apartment, despite moving out in less than a month (an "impossible" situation). Because years before, my God provided money for me to produce a play, when I was a broke college student two weeks from performance with no theatre, all it took was 36 hours and the situation was taken care of. (an "impossible" situation). The situations may differ, the problem may be too big for you, but a simple fix for God.
To simplify things:
I can believe that God is real because I feel peace when I read his word.
I can believe that God will heal me because Jesus healed a woman who suffered from a 12 year blood disease, and all she had to do was believe. Mark 5:25 - 34
I can believe that God brought the dead back to life because I know people who have been legally dead (no heartbeat for 15 minutes) that are walking healthily today.
Believe in God. For those of us still growing in the faith, this is how you grow it, pray. Ask God to grow your faith. Be warned, in order for faith to grow you will endure trials. But the assurance is, God will never leave you nor forsake you.
Faith takes time to develop and like the disciples, you will have constant questions. Here is the baseline, do you believe that Jesus lived? Do you believe that he died for your sins? Do you believe that he rose again? If the answer to those are yes, then read more about him in the books of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John as a start. Read his teachings and pray to God to help you live them out.
If any of those are no, then pray and ask God to reveal your shortcomings and give you clarity in his word. I encourage you to read John 4: 46 - 54.
Did anything in this post speak to you? If so, congrats that's the Holy Spirit drawing you closer to Him. Ask Him for a closer relationship.
And if you were blessed by this then share it with three people who need it.
Be blessed fam,

Amen! What a great testimony on faith especially regarding your play! We all have these “close calls”, but God uses that to show us only He can get it done! 🙌🏾
